   A followup report...it turns out that it is not running on a parallax that
   makes xsaber beep in response to any action.  It is loading a file with
   debugging information that does this: saber gets a bus error ("internal
   error...signal 10") and in the process puts itself into a useless state.

Do you have any specific examples of files with this problem?

It is known that files compiled with GNU CC and the `-g' option
generally cannot be loaded into Saber without using the `-G' option to
Saber, which causes it to ignore the extra information placed in the
symbol table.  Even so, it normally should recover from this, and just
simply fail to load the file.  If you've got examples where it does
otherwise, Saber Software should be notified....
