I'm cc-ing marc who seems to be the closest thing the perl locker has
to a contact point. However, you almost certainly want to solve this
problem by using /usr/athena/bin/perl instead.
I'm going to go ahead an close your bug report now.

Hi. The timestamp on the perl binary in the "perl" locker is five years
old, and won't run, at least on linux22.
athena$ add perl
athena$ ls -l /mit/per
perl perl5
athena$ ls -l /mit/perl/bin/pe
perl perl4 perl4.036 perl5 perl5.001
athena$ ls -l /mit/perl/bin/perl
-rwxr-xr-x 2 nocturne mit 249860 Feb 13 1996 /mit/perl/bin/perl
athena$ /mit/per
perl perl5
athena$ /mit/perl/bin/per
perl perl4 perl4.036 perl5 perl5.001
athena$ /mit/perl/bin/perl5
bash: /mit/perl/bin/perl5: cannot execute binary file
