rbish zephyred me about a screensaver problem she was having today.

She ran xss-button from dash, clicked on it, and walked away. When
she returned, she noticed that the screen had failed to lock. This was
in her console:

17:36 xss: LOCK ClientMessage received while already locked.

17:36 If at all possible, please re-run xscreensaver with the command line
17:36 arguments `-sync -verbose', and reproduce this bug. That will cause
17:36 xscreensaver to dump a `core' file to the current directory. Please
17:36 include the stack trace from that core file in your bug report.
17:36
17:36 http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/bugs.html explains how to create the
17:36 most useful bug reports, and how to examine core files.
17:36
17:36 The more information you can provide, the better. But please report
17:36 report this bug, regardless!

She ran:

athena% ps -A |grep xss
  6921 pts/0 0:00 xss-butt

athena% ps -A | grep xscreen
 (nothing)

She clicked on the button again. No error was produced, nor did the
screen lock.

I had her do:

add consult
punt xss-button

> a window came up that said "screen saver exited with status 1"
> and the button went away

She ran xss-button from Dash again, and everything worked OK.

It now looks like xss crashed, and I think if she had ran xss -sync
-verbose right then, she might have had a better chance of reproducing
the problem. There is unfortunately no core file to examine.

And that's all she wrote.
