Lots of users keep asking questions about how to make clicking on PDF
files from netscape dtrt. My understanding is that you need have netscape
run acroread as an application, rather than as a plugin.

I've sent this to the latest OLC user I noticed ask; it could be a
stock answer.

From netscape, choose "preferences" from the "edit" menu.

In the list on the left side of this, look under "Navigator" for
  "Applications" and select this.

Find the entry for "Portable Document Format" in the list, highlight it,
  then choose edit.

Click the check box next to "application" and make sure the text box
  contains "/mit/acro/arch/@sys/bin/acroread %s"

More elegantly, if netscape-fix could be made to deal (doesn't this
involve editing yet another file?), it's what a lot of users and
consultants already use as a first line defense against stupid configs.
We might still want to document the problem in a stock answer, though.
