System type, version: (RTPC) Version 6.1B
System name: pit-manager
What's wrong:
I tried to attach a filesystem today that (presumably) does not
exist on the remote host. The old attach would in this case yield a
"Stale NFS file handle message," which is completely useless unless
you've seen it before and have been told by someone what it means.
The new attach, on the other hand, yields:
pit-manager% attach chew
chew: No such file or directory
While this is certainly slightly more useful, it is still not the
correct error message to be giving. If I were to take this error
message literally (which I would if I were a naive user), I would say,
"Yes, I *know* there's not file named chew, I want to *attach* chew,"
or perhaps, "I know it's not there, that's why I want to attach it!"
The correct error message should be something like this:
pit-manager% attach chew
chew: No such file or directory on remote host
