In the Console, the following lines appeared

00:06 xss: there are no PseudoColor or GrayScale visuals.
00:06 xss: ignoring the request for fading/unfading.
00:06 xss: running on display ":0.0"

00:06 xss: Double-Buffering
00:06 xss: GLX

00:06 xss: selecting events on extant windows... done.
00:06 xss disabling server builtin screensaver.
00:06 xss: you can re-enable it with "xset s on".
00:06 xss: (xset s 0 0; xset s noblank; xset s expose)
00:06 Running custom startup activities listed in ~/.startup.X...
00:06 Session initialization completed.
00:06

00:09 xss: selected KeyPress on 0x2000018

What should have happened:

Just the regular startup information. Even without customizations and even
after moving my desktop files, the problem persisted
