A quick survey of Linux/Athena machines in the SIPB office and W20-575
suggests that they're all running gpm, the Linux console-mode mouse
driver. Since we normally expect people to log in through X, gpm
isn't really necessary, and it's been known to cause strange
mouse-related problems under X. It might be prudent to disable gpm in
future releases.
