Hi,
The following message wen out about 2 weeks ago. It went to
jackk@mit.edu, but I just noticed that you weren't cc'd. I'm going to
close your bug report now, but thank you for taking the time to submit
it.

Hello,
I'm one of the people working on the Star Office problem where it won't
start with an error message:
"Failed to load necessary components"
We think we've found the problem- it's most likely due to corruption in
a file .user52.rdb that Star Office stores in each user's home directory.
Users experiencing this should delete file ~/.user52.rdb (Star Office
needs it but will recreate it if it is not found- the presence of an existing
but corrupted copy is probably the cause).
It's important for users running Star Office for the first time to
let it launch completely, and then to do a normal exit to shut it
down. Killing it prematurely or logging off without exiting the
application is a likely source of the corruption.
We've also found that using some other Window managers causes Star Office
problems- it's best to stick with the default mwm Window Manager on Athena.
Please let us know if this fixes the problem.
