Hi, sorry no one got back to you on this. This is a known problem.
All of the Athena infrastructure for 8-bit logins works, but the
XF86Config generated by Xconfigurator doesn't actually define an 8-bit
mode. Fixing this (without trashing anyone's XF86Config file) will
require a bit of work, so I don't know when we'll have this fixed.
