Why is this quickstation 1600x1200 video?

So I'm on the east side of campus wanting to check email and where
people are, so I walk up to the friendly quickstation-50-1.mit.edu.
But my screen resolution is 1600x1200.
It was last rebooted today.
It's running 8.4.11.
It's public.
So why the wrong resolution?
