Hi, sorry about this. The duplex header for dvips went away by
mistake in 8.4. It will be resurrected in the next patch release,
which should come out within the next two weeks. Thanks for reporting
this bug.

According to an ops person I just talked to, it's a known problem that
jobs which get an ERROR status are not automatically cleared from the
queue. This is obviously alarming, but it doesn't mean the queue
isn't working.
