What were you trying to do?
Use fullscreen programs in a telnet to the Athena Linux box
_from_ an Athena (8.3) solaris xterm window.
What's wrong:
Various flaky behavior of screen updating, e.g. "/usr/bin/less"
shows the second screenful in reverse-video (same as the one in
sipb locker) , not turning it off after the tag under the first
one; /bin/athena/tcsh command-line editing and /bin/vi do not
echo edits correctly and need constant refreshing, etc. This is
with TERM=xterm, changing it to TERM=xterm-r6 is less flaky but
still not right. Something is probably wrong with the "xterm"
termcap, which seems to be tailored for other Red Hat systems.
What should have happened:
Fullscreen programs should display consistently! It's not
that hard, we even managed it in the 80's..
