I'm running Redhat-Athena on a PC in my MIT office.
-> Linux version 2.0.36
-> Athena RVD (linux) Version 8.2.0
Yesterday I started Netscape on the PC in my MIT office, and it worked
fine.
Today I logged into a workstation in one of the Athena clusters and
started Netscape from the Dash menu; version 4.75 came up, with a
standard license agreement to sign. I signed it, and version 4.75
worked fine. My certificate had expired, so I got a new one, but
otherwise I didn't change any Netscape settings.
Later the same morning, I tried to start Netscape on the PC in my MIT
office. The following console error messages appear, and Netscape exits
the MIT home page with signal 127:
/mit/infoagents/arch/i386_linux3/MIT-only/netscape/netscape: error in
loading shared libraries
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory
I presume that by using Netscape 4.75, some config file has changed, and
now 4.75 is my default version. I also presume that either my Linux
kernel or Redhat-Athena version is too old to support 4.75 properly.
Netscape version 3 (from the Dash menu) still works, BTW.
Right or wrong, what's the fix?
Thanks for your help!
