Very puzzling. 8.4.9 fixed an inetd.conf problem, a bugme problem,
and a security hole in "man"; nothing relevant to the screensaver.
And unlike other platforms, there isn't a lot of gunk in the update
which could have reset something wrong with the install. I don't know
why you would have had this problem under 8.4.8 but not under 8.4.9.
Perhaps I could see your /var/athena/update.log, just for curiosity's
sake?
