Hi,
You recently reported the following bug:
> What's wrong:
> [I got this message after entering my old password:
> Kerberos error: Retry count exceeded (send_to_kdc).]
Someone replied:
The master kerberos server was down for a period of time; during that
time, changing passwords would not have been possible. The fact that
the error message isn't very clear is now known, and hopefully this
will be corrected in the future.
While this reply is entirely correct, I just wanted to clarify that
this is not a bug the Athena development group is likely to fix,
unless the fix occurs in a new version of kerberos that we integrate
into Athena. Actual development on Kerberos is don by another group
of people.
Since the bug you noticed was really a combination of an operational
problem and an unclear error message, rather than an actual software
problem, I'm going to close your bug report now. If you have a
problem with that I can re-open the report, but it is unlikely to have
a significant effect on the outcome.
