A number of workstations are logging messages of the form:
Aug 16 16:57:40 M66-080-9.MIT.EDU named[231]: sysquery: no addrs found for root NS (BITSY.MIT.EDU)
Aug 16 16:57:40 M66-080-9.MIT.EDU named[231]: sysquery: no addrs found for root NS (STRAWB.MIT.EDU)
Aug 16 16:57:40 M66-080-9.MIT.EDU named[231]: sysquery: no addrs found for root NS (W20NS.MIT.EDU)
the messages amost always come in a group of 3 as above, but how many
a machine will log in a day seems to vary. Out of curiosity, I did a
check on wslogger: Tehre were 57 machines that had logged at least one
of these messages today, and one machine that had logged 345 of them.
The only server that is loggin messages of this sort is
biohazard-cafe. I don't think we've noticed any adverse effects of
this, but I'd like to understand it a little better before we write it
off.
