The Athena 8.3 version of 'attach' does some strange things on login.
When I login, I see these messages four times:

Badly formatted entry in /var/athena/attachtab
Operation aborted

Yet, when I look at what's attached, everything seems to be there.

I've seen this behavior on 'depot' and 'aalto' (both Sun Ultra 10's)
and 'mansard' (an SGI Indy).

When I login via telnet (but not at the console), I also see this:

Warning: Attach failed; you have no home directory

    aalto.mit.edu (SunOS release 5.6 Generic_105181-13) (pts/0)

What you type is protected by encryption.

Yet, I do have a home directory, and the session runs normally.
Note that this message show up BEFORE the hostname is displayed
and presumably before my dotfiles are invoked.

I should note that I have aliased 'attach' to
'attach -o rsize=8192,wsize=8192'. I had been told some time ago
that the 8.3 version of attach would support these options on NFS
attaches. We've been using a version in the 'fixes' locker that
does this for Athena 8.2. However, these options are still being
ignored.

I'm not sure which lockers are causing the error messages. You
may want to take a look in /mit/thg/.environment, where these
attaches are happening.
