acrobat and STRING vs. ISO8859-1?

So, under Solaris at least, the acrobat reader (acroread, acro
locker), as well, as the acrobat netscape plugin (infoagents) can both
be observed to report:

Warning: charset "STRING" not supported, using "ISO8859-1".

frequently with many PDF files (sorry, no example handy, can
dig one up if you really need one).

Perusing the acrobat documentation, this appears to have something to
do with locales. This is, perhaps, unfortunate, since I don't think
there are many people who pretend to have a good understanding
of locales. Perhaps they're hiding in the woodwork and will presently
pop up.

It'd be nice to make the message go away.
