The last time I was playing with the quickstations, I found that kill -STOP
would just completely kill bugme.  Furthermore, there was nothing on the
one xterm that showed up, nor was there even a windowmanager to permit
windows to be moved to occlude bugme!  This explanation doesn't fit the
observed facts, AFAIAC.

Another thing I should point out...IIRC, $XSESSION is set to the PID of
bugme on quickstations (and to session_gate on ordinary cluster machines).
This process was _defunct_; kill -CONT would have had no effect.
