What were you trying to do?
ftp from athena.dialup to leviathan, a vax mayfair III
running ultrix 3.0.
What's wrong:
peculiar errors. the upshot is that i could not transfer
any data, neither the output from 'ls', nor the files
i was interested in.
What should have happened:
i should've been able to move my files, as happened
when i used /usr/bin/ftp.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
when i started up ftp, i noticed that it mentioned something
concerning kerberos. understandably, the ftp daemon running
on my ultrix machine did not understand what appeared to
be an attempt to initiate a kerberos-authenticated ftp
transaction. when i checked the man page for ftp, i found
no mention of kerberos, however.
