:)I asked an OLC question recently about a problem with kermit
:)in the modem locker giving me segfaults when serving a "get" command.
:)This problem was new; at some point recently my old scripts broke.
:)One consultant suggested using the regular Athena release of kermit
:)which was now a higher release; another suggested writing bugs@mit.edu.
:)
:)about half the dialup servers are running sunos 5.5.1 and offer
:)kermit 5 without adding the modem locker; the other half run sunos 5.6
:)and offer kermit 6.
:)
:)The segfaults seem to be caused when kermit is given:
:) set wildcard-expansion shell
:)and then tries to serve a 'get' command.
:)
:)I was getting that segfault when using "add modem" (on either or both of
:)sunos 5.6 and 5.5.1) and also when not doing "add modem" on sunos 5.6.
:)the last case I didn't check (5.5.1 and no "add modem").
:)
:)The workaround for me is to simply omit the setting of wildcard-expansion.
:)So I don't need any more help on this.
:)
:)But since the number of versions of kermit running around on the std releases
:)of athena and in the modem locker seems to be many, and their differences
:)confusing, I thought I should send what I learned on to you at bugs@
:)in case someone gets the time to clean it all up one day.
