I finally got root access and was able to read the message in the mail
spool file. It is a vacation response to some mail I sent earlier
from the machine (sidney.mit.edu). The response is it
"warlord@sidney.mit.edu". I suspect that the default sendmail.cf is
sending an envelope from address of the localhost rather than an
envelope from address of @mit.edu.
Unfortunately I'm not conversant enough in sendmail.cf to actually
track this one down (sorry).
