We've got to fix clean_tmp_areas.

We've been bandying about the concept of what to do about removing
things from /tmp.

Well, as some of us know there's a pathological combination that can
occur: If a public workstation doesn't deactivate for the requisite
number of days, /tmp is cleaned by cron. This removes the
/tmp/attachtab file. Subsequently users trying to log in find their
home directories will not attach for no apparent reason. Often it may
seem to someone just walking up to the machine that it just hasn't
deactivated yet...

I've walked up to a public machine in the student center and had it
happen to me. It also happened to a machine in the watchmaker zone.

Perhaps the eventual correct fix is to run xdm which does away with
deactivating, and codifies the cleanup process as a cleanup process.

Until then, I still STRONGLY believe that clean_tmp_areas has NO place
in crontab. (For the Nth time).
