Sorry about the delay in responding to your bug report.
Basically, xinfo is in the process of being removed. The information,
as you point out, is badly out of date, and there is no organization
in place to keep it up to date.
I think you'll find that the MIT Web pages (http://web.mit.edu ) has a
map which provides some of the information you are looking for.
