I spoke too soon here; the fix I had in mind won't necessarily fit in
all that well with zaway.
I think for now it is appropriate to tell users that they should run
zaway in the foreground, when they leave their machine, and then ^C it
when they get back. Is there a good reason why the users are running
it in the background? (Is it being run from a screensaver?)
