For a long time, I've been wondering why I would occasionally
lose the contents of my .sw_messages file. The loss would cause
me to receive all of the sw messages, all over again.
I think I've a way to force it to happen. I started framemaker
("add frame", "maker"), and then hit ^C roughly 5 seconds after
having started maker. Maker died, as it should.
But, when I started maker a few seconds later, I noticed that I
had lost the contents of my .sw_messages file.
I suspect that flaws in the *_cookie routines in the swtools
locker cause this. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go
through the code and figure out at what point it trashed my file.
So I just restored from my backup volume. I hope that the next
time this happens, I again notice in time to restore the file.
Sincerely,
