The "byte-range locked" text in the console window is an innocuous AFS message, not a Maple error (see /mit/maple/README.athena). I'm not seeing any general problems with Maple Vr4 (also on a Sun running Athena 8.1.15), but if you can provide a detailed account of what commands you were using when the errors occurred, we'd be happy to investigate further. If you need general Maple help, please use OLC.
