[1563] in Athena Bugs

A brief synopsis of the problem:
tar cfv /dev/floppy .
is hardly successful on vs2000, it always has the following error message :
sd2 HARD ERROR: compare error
and the red light is never out for a long time after it finishes copying.
However I still take the floppy out and just try the following :
M11-116-7% tar xfv /dev/floppy
x ./2.073/homework1/hw1.f, 1687 bytes, 4 tape blocks
x ./2.073/homework1/t.prn, 6201 bytes, 13 tape blocks
tar: tape read error: I/O error
This happens at least on M11-116-7 and M11-116-12.
I am going to try IBM-RT machine, since they are trustworthy for using the
floppies. And report what I will get for the same floppy.
