What were you trying to do?
General email and using my xterm.
What's wrong:
I started getting mamy messages in the console window
they said:
le0: No carrier - cable disconnected or hub link test disabled?
this happened very often, about every two seconds or so.
Then I got the following message in my xterm:
afs: Lost contact with file server 18.185.0.27 in cell athena.mit.edu
afs: Lost contact with file server 18.179.0.36 in cell athena.mit.edu
afs: Lost contact with file server 18.183.0.32 in cell athena.mit.edu
I also had another message in the console:
Notice ZS3: ring buffer overflow
What should have happened:
None of this should have happened.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
I think there was some type of failure with the network
connection or the file servers, but I am not sure. Once in a
while I get the
le0: No carrier - cable disconnected or hub link test disabled?
message, but it only happens twice and then everything stays normal.
I just want to be sure that the problem is with the network, and it
is not my machine that is having problems.
