What were you trying to do?
Maintain a mailing list locally (i.e., on starkiller) which
contains a few MIT subscribers.
What's wrong:
Mail sent to the lists is often delayed; according to the
sendmail syslogs, delivery is "Deferred: Name server: athena.mit.edu:
host name lookup failure"; at the same time, I get the following
syslog messages from named:
Sep 4 20:22:10 starkiller named[125]: Malformed response from [18.70.0.160].53 (out of data in final pass)
Sep 4 20:22:14 starkiller named[125]: Malformed response from [18.72.0.3].53 (out of data in final pass)
Sep 4 20:22:18 starkiller named[125]: Malformed response from [18.71.0.151].53 (out of data in final pass)
For whatever reason, the later queue runs always seem to succeed.
What should have happened:
Either 1) bitsy, strawb, and w20ns should return correct responses,
OR 2) named should be fixed somehow.
