I have been using xess under linux until fairly recently.
This evening I received the following error message:
In string, @cellref now must be written as \@cellref at
/mit/xess/arch/i386_linux2/bin/xess line 34, near "xess_3.1_@cellref"
21:19 Execution of /mit/xess/arch/i386_linux2/bin/xess aborted due to
compilation errors.

I assume this is due to some reaction to the previously mentioned
@cellref bug that's breaking on linux; I couldn't get the error on the
Sun I'm on, for example.
