Thanks very much for your bug report. We've tracked the problem down,
and it should be fixed pretty soon.

It is actually caused by logging in and out, then in again right away
on the same machine. However, it can also be fixed as you describe.

I believe your initial mail bounced for the same reason your xterms
were disappearing.
