Hi Mark,
I have looked into this and the situation is as follows: this application
is only available with node-locked licensing, and it must see a license
key in file /var/netls/nodelock, as you have already found out; the problem
for us is that the location of this file is on the local hard drive of the
machine and at the moment would have to be installed individually on each
machine.
For now, the user can do this as a work-around- he will have to su to
root (using tellme root if necessary) and edit the file
/var/netls/nodelock, adding the lines you already located:
#:#"Silicon Graphics, Inc." "MPEG ENCODER" "A" "2038/01/01" 170
546fb4684914.02.c0.1a.3d.52.00.00.00 7nf8u9rqis5k3mqxf4axhgmug2
#:#"Silicon Graphics, Inc." "CINEPAK ENCODER" "A" "2038/01/01" 180
546fb4684914.02.c0.1a.3d.52.00.00.00 vyx56vaucc2ybmqxf4axhgmug2
This will make it work on a specific machine; I verified that it works.
We normally don't tell users to do things like this but there is no other
short-term way to make this work.
In the longer term, we can make /var/netls/nodelock be a link to someplace
in afs that will be visible to all our machines; we have done this before
for a similar situation; however this will take time to set up (possibly
a couple of months; maybe sooner).
