I use "ncftp" as my preferred FTP package, and find it does not work
with the Athena ftpd. Apparently, the Athena ftpd core dumps when it
receives a request in the following format:
LIST -d file
To reproduce:
ftp <host>
(login/cd wherever)
quote LIST -d file
and watch the remote side close the connection. You should also find a
coredump.
