System name: bahamas@mit.edu
Type and version:	HP 9000/780, HP-UX B.10.20 A
Display type: ?

What were you trying to do?
I installed the telnet package (both telnet and telnetd)
in the same way as for our other HP stations
 (HP 9000/735, HP-UX A.09.01 A) where it works normally.

What's wrong:
When I telnet to or from bahamas@mit.edu, I obtain:

telnet -Kx <machine>
Trying 18.82.0.44...
Connected to <machine>.mit.edu.
Escape character is '^]'.

and then nothing else appears on the screen.
Characters are transmitted because the commands
I type are executed. However, nothing is echoed to
 the screen.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
Here is a transcript of the debug info I could obtain when
telneting from bahamas to lanai, two of our HP machines:

telnet -Kx
telnet> set debug
Will turn on socket level debugging.
telnet> set netdata
Will print hexadecimal representation of network traffic.
telnet> set prettydump
Will print user readable output for "netdata".
telnet> set options
Will show option processing.
telnet> set termdata
Will print hexadecimal representation of terminal traffic.
telnet> open lanai
Trying 18.82.0.44...
Connected to lanai.mit.edu.
Escape character is '^]'.

Note:
Kerberos is not installed on our machines, so I only use the
 encryption option of telnet (-Kx).
