Netscape with .pdf files

I run Netscape -install, and I happened to download a pdf file. However,
Acrobat also apparently uses its own colormap, rendering the file unreadable
unless I do something really strange, like select print and place the mouse
in that window.
Additionally, there's a key configuration bug; backspace is interpreted as
delete, and vice-versa.
This is on an 8.0K Sun (starkiller, by name)
