What were you trying to do?
Use a sun workstation as normal
What's wrong:
utmpd was consuming too much of the CPU resources
What should have happened:
It should not have gone into a loop that it could not
recover from. This bug has been reported to sun and
there is a patch for it:
Patch-ID# 102286-03
showrev -p didn't seem to show that the patch
was installed so I was wondering if someone could
look into installing it for a future release.
Another workaround seems to be modifying
/etc/default/utmpd , adding the line MAX_FDS=0
which will turn off the use of poll in utmpd.
(this also makes utmpd pretty much useless)
