run autocad v13 from a linux terminal via rlogin

What should have happened:

everything was working over an hour ago;
i simply did:
01 xhost kahn (at my home linux box)
02 rlogin kahn
03 setenv DISPLAY cadmus.mit.edu:0
04 autocad &
and it usually runs great, no problem
but now i am getting this error:
FATAL ERROR: Can't open working file /var/tmp/ACIS.AC$
