Hi, we have been experiencing a lot of difficulties in running any
applications, SAS in particular on our Sparc 20 ANGRIST.MIT.EDU,
usually this machine has the following specs:
last pid: 856; load averages: 0.50, 0.27, 0.36 16:22:16
60 processes: 50 sleeping, 1 running, 5 zombie, 3 stopped, 1 on cpu
Cpu states: 8.1% idle, 34.4% user, 38.8% kernel, 9.4% wait, 9.4% swap
Memory: 112936K real, 7836K free, 126212K swap, 23552K free swap
Anyway, five or six users usually are on the machine at once, and today
it crashed on us. Also people who should have no problems saving onto
the disk space get this error message when running SAS.
"
athena% sas infile.sas
Out of space writing to `/data/sam/dod/$tmp0003.ssd01'! Select:
1. Execute X command.
2. Be prompted to delete files from SAS libraries.
3. Delete definitions of all SAS macros and macro variables.
4. Clear source spooling/DMS recall buffers.
N. Do nothing.
A. Clean up everything.
S. Halt data step/proc
T. Terminate SAS.
"
Could someone please help us out ASAP??!
Thanks.. This machine is for the research of Professor Angrist of the
Economics dept.
