This does appear to be a bug in the Solaris 2.4 find. Interestingly,
the bug also appears to be present in the Solaris 2.3 find if you
compile from the Solaris 2.3 sources we have, but the find we have on
the Athena 7.7 packs appears to have been patched:

Unfortunately, I can't find 101649-03 in /mit/solarisdev/2.3.patches,
so I don't know very much about the patch. The fix doesn't seem to
have made it into the Solaris 2.4 release, which is understandable
since Solaris 2.4's final build appears to be have been in July 1994
(the same month as the 2.3 find patch).
Bill, could you look for an equivalent Solaris 2.4 patch in the
Solaris bug archives?
