This problem is solved in stock emacs 19.30 (the code to determine
whether a buffer should be writable has been substantially rewritten
and does not depend on whether or not you're root), so it will not
be a problem with either the emacs 19 that goes out on the packs
as "emacs19" shortly, or the emacs 19 that will be installed in the
emacs19 locker shortly.
