What were you trying to do?
build emacs 19.30.70, but that's not important right now. I was
trying to read and write files from AFS.
What went wrong?
files kept being corrupted. one source file (created with tar) was
truncated near the end. - I restored it from the tarfile successfully.
Two other object files were corrupted in various unspecified ways. At
that point, I wiped the object files, flushved the volume, and flushed
all the object files individually.
What should have happened?
I should be able to read and write files from AFS without it
corrupting my data. If that sourcefile had not been from a tarfile,
there's no telling how much time and work I would have lost. Not even
NFS was this bad.
