What's wrong:
logging seems a bit verbose:
*.debug;kern.none /var/adm/SYSLOG
<8> m11-113-16:~> wc /var/adm/*SYSLOG

also, syslog rollovers are done via in root's crontab (this appears to
be the vendor behavior), rather than via newsyslog.conf (athenaism).
What should have happened:
logging should be less verbose. more log history should be kept.
