What were you trying to do?
Use Maple (ie: add maple; maple)
What's wrong:
On the RS/6000, when Maple starts up it now reports piles of
warning messages:
Warning: No type converter registered for 'String' to 'TearOffModel' conversion.
Warning: No type converter registered for 'String' to 'TearOffModel' conversion.
What should have happened:
There never used to be any such warning messages when using Maple
on the RS6000. It doesn't happen on the Sun or DECstation. I've
tried this on two different RS/6000's (a 320H and a 220), with two
different userids, with and without customizations. I always get
piles of those warning messages. They not only appear when Maple
starts up, but also while using it. The messages are reported to
the xterm from which Maple was launched.
Note that nothing (other than some HTML files) has changed in the
Maple locker in months, so this problem is probably related to
something introduced in the last release. I was actually in the
process of wrapping the Maple binaries when I noticed this problem,
and found that the warning messages appeared not only with the
wrapped binary (when running from the maple R/W volume), but with
the original unwrapped binary (when running from the R/O volume)
as well.
