They are, and with the exception of lpquota have been there for a very
long time.
The reason I didn't remove telnet was to ensure that everyone, even
the dialups and any other private workstations that may not have taken
the update in something resembling a timely manner, would get a
consistent version of the secure telnet. There were similar reasons
involving potential version skew between dash and its menus for
leaving dash there. To the extent that there may still be workstations
which haven't taken the update, it seems like a good idea to continue
leaving these programs in /srvd/patch. At the next major version
change, there will be an /srvd/patch for 8.0 which will start out
empty.
lpquota could conceivably disappear, at the cost of confusing any
users of workstations that haven't updated. It's probably not worth
worrying about.
Thank you for pointing these out though. They might just as well have
been cruft.
