The mitthesis.sty in /mit/thesis/tex is not incorrect, per se, but
outdated. The Institutes Archives changed their requirements to
demand only 1" margins on the left and right as opposed to the 1.25"
which had been the standard for years. The thesis_specs.tec in that
locker is correspondingly aged as well.
