Hi,
	Sorry it took us a year to get back to you on this, you probably have
figured out the problem already but here's our answer:
	MH doesn't read the environment variables, however, you may change
the default pager and editor by editing the .mh_profile with the following
lines:
	Editor: <choice of editor>
	showproc: <choice of program to view message>

	If you are using emacs as a shell however, I suggest you use the
emacs mh interface for reading mail.  M-x mh-rmail, or some other emacs
mail reader (e.g. M-x rmail)  The manpages for repl and show have more
information on mh settings.
