The sort button on xmh sorts the mail messages by date. Since most
of the mail comes in chonologically, mail is already sorted by date.
You probably did not see any change in your inbox because there was
nothing to change. The "Sort" button does the correct thing if the
mail messages are out of order by date. If you find this is not the
case, please send more information on the conditions under which this
bug happened.
