What were you trying to do?

look at the manpage for top under solaris.

What went wrong?

  .SH "SUNOS 5 NOTES"
The SunOS 5 (Solaris 2) port was written by Torsten Kasch,
  <torsten@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de>. Support for multi-cpu,
calculation of CPU% and memory stats provided by
Robert Boucher <boucher@sofkin.ca>, Marc Cohen <marc@aai.com>,
  Charles Hedrick <hedrick@geneva.rutgers.edu>, and
  William L. Jones <jones@chpc>.

Note that those say `man one slash top dot ell', which is wrong.

What should have happened?

There should be a real manpage installed for top.

The catman step should have noticed that top.l was installed in man1
and done something better than putting the file in cat1.

Athena should have added in something like `/srvd/patch/.man' to the
default Athena $MANPATH so that this could be fixed before the
  summer.

Anything else you'd like to add?
