Well, I just salvaged William's homedir and the bogus symlink did not go away.
It is possible that it might need a full salvage of the partition, but
unlikely, and that would cause an outage.
I think we should look around for another solution, but until then I suggest
we give William and zeno a 1 k quota increase to compensate for the lost
space.
